In 2008 the municipality of Krakow has decided to launch a
yearly series of eleven top-class culture festivals in
addition to the city's numerous cyclical events. The
series called 'Six Senses', 6 Zmyslow in Polish,
includes four well-tried festivals and eight relatively new
ones. The former are two festivals of classical music,
Misteria Paschalia in the Holy Week and Sacrum-Profanum in
September, Photomonth in Krakow in May, and Festival of the
Polish Music in July. Fairly new arrivals are
Off Plus Camera festival of indie cinema productions in
April, Film Music Festival and Czeslaw Milosz Festival of
literature in May, Selector Festival of electronic music and
ArtBoom festival of visual arts in June, Unsound music
festival in October, Joseph Conrad Literature Festival in
November, Divine Comedy festival of theater productions from
all around the world in December. Plus there is the
Opera Rara
festival of Baroque operatic treasures in the late January
and early February.
